Volume 2
This Week In The Empire
All the news that's fit to print, first!
From the Editor's Desk
Another week in the glorious Empire has come and gone. If all goes well with this issue and the next, we may move into some new digs and upgrade our layout. This month is "Love the one your with" month. So if you come upon any pirates, show them some Imperial love with a custom MKII. The missiles at Utopia Planitia all have little hearts painted on the tips.
General News
It seems that the entire universe was infected with some kind of virus. Many pilots were seen with the shakes, causing slowed reaction times and some very inaccurate laser fire. One pilot commented that it felt like he had regressed physically and mentally.
It has also caused some increased aggression towards the more difficult enemies like Z-fighters and drones and even Famous Pirates. It is getting very hard to gain combat experience as swarms of fighters converge on them whenever these dangerous enemies are found. Let's hope a cure is soon found.
On a side note, many pilots are not getting the experience they need to become combat pilots from Space Dragons and Pirates anymore. Many feel they need to stay in training about 1/3 longer than they used to.
Pirate Activity
Revenant Squadron is still actively raiding in Empire space. Unfortunately the elusive group of ghost pirates are hard to track down. plakationship has also been raiding in the Keldon cluster.
New Buildings and Demolitions
The Falyn Memorial Teahouse in Begreze has been reconstructed by catheryne of UIE Felines. The new name is FMTFM which is the Falyn Memorial Teahouse First Memorial. The acronym was used as a lazy bureaucrat wouldn't write it out in the triplicate required for the forms.
Then the traitorous catheryne handed the newly constructed Starbase over to Federation officer Sentoo.
It's a dark day for the Empire, as their once strong presence in the West and South Pardus Rim's are now a shadow of what they once were. Bounty Hunters can no longer easily find the highly sought after Imperial MKII missiles needed to bring outlaws to justice. Hopefully some enterprising alliances or individuals will step forward to extend the Emperor's will even further.
Alliance News
The Shadow Order and M.E.R.C. have come to an understanding and have ended their Private Conflict, although I am sure this is not the end of hostilities.
Interviews
In the first of our Alliance interviews, I talked with dasMikechen of DABOO Corp. Here's what transpired
MG: So dasMikechen, how long have you been leader of DABOO?
dM: I have been the leader of DABOO since November of 2005 when Praesul decided to take a leave of absence. He is my brother, and the choice of who to tranfer the leadership to was pretty clear to him as we have a very similar vision for DABOO Corp. This vision is to promote the well-being of the economy and its people. To DABOO this means the limitless free-market (where competition rules prices) and the lack of trade barriers, most notably Military Blockades.
MG: And what ship do you pilot?
dM: I myself pilot the Boa Ultimate Constrictor for its versatility in handling large quantities of goods. I am fortunate enough to have been deemed worthy by our Emperor to aquire such a ship and the lovely magnofluff (owner of Serenity Base at the time) and the IoP were kind enough to put her together for me.
The rest of our pilots have venoms for the versatility in both combat and trade, constrictors for the lovely green color and ability to house much inventory, and some are veterans of the galaxy and found where to buy Behemoths.
MG: DABOO, being mainly a trade alliance, has the most credits per member in the universe. How did you get there?
dM: Well, like I said before, we promote economic success. We do not force any buildings on our members, or surrounding pilots. We have had numerous pilots do studies on what our sectors can consume and we simply openly discuss these figures with our pilots and we build around that. Buildings, as many are finding out, are not a way to profit, but merely a way to boost an economy to make trading the necessities more profitable.
We also do not tax or take member dues at any point in time. And I am proud to say we have 7 members with over 10 million and no members with under 1 million.
However, it is no secret where DABOO has its cash. Our most profitable member, Lisk, has amassed 93 million credits through his business management. He has since become an inactive pilot (likely retired), and many of our entry level positions would benefit much from being able to speak with him about his success.
MG: Why did you align yourself with the Emperor?
dM: The most obvious answer was... of course, it was most profitable at the time. And as we were growing a relationship with the locals, Praesul and I, who are both natively from Earth, developed a love of our home. DABOO Corp. was the first official alliance that declared its allegiance to the Emperor. He has benefited us with his fleet as we progress in his military, and we feel honored to provide his sectors with its necessities.
MG: And finally, when are you going to donate some credits to the military? ;)
dM: Who says we have not?
We encourage our members to act individually on these issues and there have been many times when there have been requests upon DABOO Corp to support different project, and it is up to the individual associate of DABOO to make their choice. When the call to arms comes and the Empire must defend its sectors, have no fear, DABOO Corp will be right there fighting for justice and freedom in whatever means necessary.
Thank you for this time to discuss DABOO Corp. I enjoy sitting down with you and I hope to hear from you again sometime. Don't be a stranger; come check out Quana and Phicanho, as well as our 3 DABOO owned starbases.
Next Week: eddy of pharmacentricity

Nice issue.
[nitpicky]
if xp is reduced by 33%, you need to work 50% harder, not 1/3.
[/nitpicky]
Otherwise it's nice format, could use some pics and better colour distinguishing title and article (but that's blogger theme dependant...)
Anyway, good luck with the news service :)
Good first issue, some artwork would be nice.... as well as perhaps a different theme if possible.
But its got great potential, stick with it.
